Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Sarah Ostadabbas is an assistant professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Northeastern University (NEU), Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She joined NEU in 2016 from Georgia Tech, having completed her PhD at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2014. At NEU, she directs the Augmented Cognition Laboratory (ACLab), aiming to enhance human information-processing capabilities through adaptive interface design using machine learning and computer vision algorithms. Her research focuses on developing augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools for assessment and enhancement projects. She specializes in the Small Data Domain, particularly in medical or military applications, where data collection and labeling are costly and protected by strict privacy laws. Professor Ostadabbas’ solutions include learning frameworks with deep structures, domain-knowledge integration, and maximizing generalization of learning across domains. She has co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles and received awards from organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense (DoD), and industry partners like Mathworks, Amazon AWS, and NVIDIA. She has organized workshops and served in editorial roles for IEEE and ACM publications, as well as various signal processing and machine learning conferences. She is a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Women in Engineering, and other professional organizations.
